First things first. And this isn't the first time you'll hear this....."Slow Down" Not saying this Directly to you and your tank, but simply in general. With that in mind, Dr Tims isn't an instant cure all. Your tank is going to take 6-8 weeks of maturing the proper amount of nitrifying bacteria before you even think of adding fish, let alone coral. Coral is always the last thing you want to put in your system. First, think about rock and sand.

What size tank do you have, and how long has it been up and running?
(And also, Welcome to 3Reef) ;D

You should be alright with fish but I wouldn't get in a hurry with sps until everything has had some time to stabilize.

Yeah Dr. Tims is def worth it. Add it now and then use a little bit each month. It will help with param swings and to keep your tank clean.

Have you done anything yet to start a cycle?

You'll need something, a raw shrimp, fish food, pure ammonia, to get it going and feed the bacteria.

So I'd add Dr. Tims, then drop 1 raw shrimp in the tank. Then test every day for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Amm should peak then drop, then nitrite, then nitrate. Once nitrate peaks and drops, you can add a cuc, and your first fish, maybe 2. Then only add 1 fish every week to 2 weeks. In a few months you can add a few beginner corals, like shrooms, a hammer/torch etc.

no offense intended, but did you hear something like this at your LFS?
NOt that it wouldn't work that way, but a fish every week or two is pushing it. Is the fish/gallon endless? just saying

Dr. Tims, yea, read about it here on some posts, never used it, just saying

I know there are a lot of people out there antsy to get their tanks up and going. I truely understand that, I sat for 4 weeks with an empty tank with nothing in it waitin for things to come around and organize my situation so that I can get going. This tank HAUNTED ME!!!! Telling me to get water in it, but I wasn't ready and waited until I could swing everything. I then filled my tank with water and bought 30 lbs of rock to help start cycling. A couple of weeks later i bought another 40 lbs of rock to finalize my situation.

After I started cycling i started to notice a huge coralline bloom and talked with my lfs and friends who have tanks and they said bring your water in lets run some tests and go from there. I cycled the hard way and my work paid off. I cycled for 4 weeks even though my tank was ready at 2 and a half weeks. Patience is only going to help your tank. Your going to get a better filtration system from your live rock developing as well as helping your system. Remember this, your only doing yourself a favor by taking your time. Besides not rushing things your saving yourself money as well treating your fish humanely.

But remember we all have our opinions and no 2 tanks are the same, and what works for you won't work for me.

I understand what you all are saying i setup a 75gal reef and did it the old school way and had great success with it and i had heard about this and saw the video of them using that stuff and was curious if anyone else had tried this method because ive always waited 4 weeks after getting the live rock put in to put fish in unfortunatly the closest fish store is about 1hr away and they dont have anything worth a thing in the saltwater catagory so im forced to order everything offline which blows. If anyone knows of the best website to go through for coral fish and live rock thats good quality and priced reasonablly plz let me know

Only bad things happen quickly in this hobby, ALL good things take time. There are no miracle potions, supplements or additives and those that make those claims usually go by the wayside in time.

There are no hard set rules in this hobby, and yes depending on the fish and size, a fish every couple weeks may too quick. And yes you should watch your param's in between adding the fish to help prevent new tank syndrome.

Not sure where I mentioned the fish/gallon rule. And if I we're to be condescending towards anothers post and disagreed with it, maybe I'd offer a better alternative opinion than it may work, but maybe not, and yeah I've read up on that, but never used it. Just sayin;)
