Do you have a sump currently?

What exactly are you unsure of?

If you don't have a sump, you can set one up just like a sump. The most basic thing you can do is get a container, either a tank rubber container etc., get an overflow box and get a pump. The pump shouldn't exceed your overflow. For example, I have an overflow rated for 800 gph. My pump, a Rio 2100 is rated for 792 gph, but with the height it has to pump, I'm probably getting about half that.

What I would do in your position is do something like what I have. I have a sump with 3 sections. The first is where the DT drains into, my skimmer is also there. The second is my refugium and the third is my return pump and where my ATO is. I made baffles out of acrylic and siliconed them in. That way, you can have a sump and a refugium.
