Sounds like bacterial pink eye. It usually goes away in a couple of days. Don't rub your eye and keep it irrigated well with artifical tears. Wash your hands often so it doesn't get spread to your other eye.

Actually, you probably shouldnt go to work at all today. Pink eye is very contagious! Mostly it is just annoying, but you wouldnt want to infect any of your co-workers

I've worked with kids for half of my life. I've seen more conjuctivitis than you can shake a stick at. It's not terribly contagious for adults who are able to use eye drops and wash their hands often. (With kids, that's a different story altogether)

If it is bacterial you will probably need antibiotics. If it's viral it will clear up on it's own in a few days to a week. I had the viral type and got these homeopathic drops from the drugstore that worked wonders!! They helped ease the pain. Be careful so you don't spread it to your other eye!

conjunctivitis refers to anything that inflames the membrane on the eyeball... so like tangster said, it could be from messing with your corals yesterday or from bacteria or virus or from a chemical.
I had this one type of contact solution that really inflamed my eyes! it was weird but every time i would use this particular solution I was getting red eyes
