Easiest option is the aqua pure liter meter 3 pumps. That will allow you to dump from one to the next and then out easily.

They are adjustable peristalic pumps that can over come huge amounts of head pressure. So you could have those tanks all over tge house and your make up water in the garage and it would still work. So long as you can run the lines.

You would need a lot of the modules to get it done... But it would do it safely.

That sounds like it would get expensive, quickly.

As does everything in this hobby.... But it's the only safe option for this kind of automation.

I spent weeks looking for other options and in the end spent over $1k on solutions that caused more problems... I finally settled on the tunze diy that matt posted. But I don't retain that water or reuse it. Fire that to be automated and across my house would be near impossible without the liter meter anyhow...

I really wish I had just gotten it to start with.

Yup, it does seem like it will get very expensive.
Thus far, my options are, the litre metre or the genesis systems. I'm going to just concentrate on my main display system which consists of three aquariums all plumbed together.
I will use one module and the waste water will be collected in a barrel which I will use to manually do water changes on my other tanks.
I still have to give the DIY another run through to fully understand it to make an informed decision on which route to go.
I will like to make it a DIY project though. (more pix) who doesn't love pictures in a thread? Lol :D

The Reef-filler dual head pump is supposedly more reliable than a littermeter for this purpose. The littermeter is a good pump, but peristaltic pumps are not designed to be on for hours on end. So, it depends how quickly your dosing and how much. Diaphragm dosing pumps have advantages for this type of application. Also, dual heads on one drive, the ability to adjust the flow rate and a bit cheaper. If I go this way, I would use this. I would still prefer to monitor the salinity though, with a salinity meter, but made the mistake of buying an RKL, rather than an APEX and have been waiting a year for the bozos to get one in stock... if they ever do, I may buy one of these.

They have a number of models and flow rates.

Really. I know two people who have used the liter meter for continuious use for a periods of years and still are... I think they both do some maintenance occasionally though.

Wow...that thing looks awesome! no maintenance?!

there has been some talk on here before about a constant water change through the skimmer running wet. I have started a thread in the past, as well as others about this. I just cant find my thread on it atm.

maybe try googling this too :)

Yes, you can do it, but there is more maintenance. Especially on a big tank, if your doing big water-changes... The reef filler is just better suited to the application and a lot less expensive.
