This is for the cold weather people

Ok this is a solution for the cold weather people, the temperature drop outside makes your room so warm that your the only guys in the world using yours ice scrapers indoors, instead of on your cars. I know i had to do it and never mind trying to open the window its jamed with one inch of new ice forming every day, compliment of your Reef tank and sump. So this is the thing for you. An air exchanger system Its available at any hardware stores At my place $ 499.00 their's other models too.

Its all about location location location, your in Nevada i presume your fine. I'm in Canada and in northern USA its a colder climate and that why we have snow which comes from humidity, and when are tanks evaporates a mist of 78-80 oF in the air and it hits the cold windows in the winter the mist become water again causing the window to ice up and become so thick that it can break and twist the frame. When spring comes damages can be in the hundreds of dollard for each windows thats thousands for the house. so yes we are preocupied with it. One tank can evaporate a lot specially if the air in the house is dry and suck up your tank. We need ways to prevent that. In the south you have an advantage, the sun and dry wind, we don't have that. You need chillers we don't always.

Ya are humidity averages 8 to 12%. One nice thing is fans over the tank work great for cooling. All forms of evaporative cooling work great here. Most houses run swamp coolers vs AC.

Average here is 48% to 62% normal throughout the year. Add your tank to it......now you know why.

Right now very comfortable at 33% humidity 78 oF .
