I am quite sure that it can be done from the little bit of reading I have done, but I have no experience with controllers and am hoping that someone can spell it out for me what would be needed.

I want to be able to remotely monitor salinity and temperature on two separate via laptop or smartphone (android based) while out of town. I do not need the system to dose or top off either tank, just monitor.

If someone could spell out exactly what I would need and a general idea of how it would have to be set up it would be most excellent.

It can be done. Youd need:
    -Apex (or any reef controller)
    -two conductivity probes
    -two temp probes
    -second modules to monitor above
you may need an extension aquabus cord (depends on how far those separate tanks are)

    Its not gonna be cheap.

For what this will cost you, you'll want to do a LOT more than just monitor with it.

Apex Lite: $370 (Alternatively, you could go with an Apex Jr. for $220. But note there are some hard limitations with the Jr; however it might do all you'd ever need it to.)
Then you need 2 PM2s; one module for each conductivity probe: $86 each (x2)
    2 Conductivity probes: $140 each (x2)
And then one additional temp probe: $30

    So at a minimum: $702

Im currently using a RKE Titanium with two PC4s for my sump and QT area as well as two in my DT for pumps and lighting. As long as they're connected via the bus system the RKE sees each controller regardless of where it is located. Works slicker than snot.

They had them on sale a short while back at BRS. Not cheap, even on sale, but well worth it IMHO.
