I'm looking into controllers and dosing things. I have no idea what to get and dont have any idea in which direction to head. I was looking at the reefkeepers lite and sounds like everyone upgrades at some point. I want to do it once and get something that i can later use on a bigger tank when i get my own house. With dosing i know you have to use a controller but dont know what to do with the pumps and what not and how they work entirely. If someone can help me id be very happy :) Thank you in advance!

BTW its going on my 46 euro bow front.

Well.... controllers... Reef Keeper Elite, or Apex are probably the top models right now without spending a TON of money. Profilux is what I would get if I could afford it.
Those are all basically unlimited in expandability.

For dosing, you can have the controller do it by running dosing pumps on timers. It takes a while to setup correctly, but very easy to maintain afterwards.
The is also the option to get a dosing pump unit with a built in controller. Some of these are extremely accurate and easier to setup.
I want to say Pehedril went this route. Do a search through his threads for dosing pumps.

as of right now i use my rkl to control my lights heater and some of my powerheads and skimmer. but you can buy different upgrades for them. they are pretty neat but by the time you buy all the extras for them you might as well go ahead and pay for the controller you want because they can get expensive. just depends on how much you want to control. i dont use a doser right now so im not sure how they work with a doser. maybe someone else can help you a little more there.

    cbs3315,

like jonjonwells said its going to take him to figure that out, but im thinking i want my lights and heater on the controller. i have my lights on a outdoor light timer which is working good but it gets messed up when i turn the power off when i do my water changes and what not.
