I agree. Don't get a controller until you know it will fulfill all your needs, that's a decent cash investment only to find out that it's not going to work for you long term.

Question... do you need to buy a pH probe and controller or is that in the ACJ? I have a Schuran Jetstream 1 and last night I woke up to my pump growling with no water in the reactor, I don't have a shut off solenoid and the CO2 was just adding away! I can see coming home to a bombed tank... Do I have to buy the solenoid and probe? I saw it said controller but is that just the outlet plug-in to shut the power off?

How are you running an Ca reactor without a ph probe? I had to buy the ph probe apart from the controller. It doesnt come with it, unless your able to find a combo kit. Most controllers have a "low water level" senser that can be added to the controller to avoid that scenario. Luna

Are you going to trust the word of a bunch of folks who would say "yes" to that? How about if we say no? To be blunt; your question above sounds like you would rather someone else do the research for you.

What do you know about the Aquadyne Octopus 3000? What's the retail price? What is it capable of doing? What do YOU need it to do? What does it come with? How does the price you quote compare to other controllers? What's the difference in capabilities b/w this one and every other one out there?

Personally, if I buy something based on someone else's decision, then I'm not really interested in whether or not I've made the right move. If you don't know the answers to the questions above, you're setting yourself up for misery down the line.

Be an educated consumer and you'll never regret a single purchase you make.

    Good luck! :)

Ohhhh... I thought that low water thing was for if your sump got low... that would be a good idea too!
I check my pH and it's always between 8.2-8.4 depending on the day or night. I checked it this morning and it was 8.0.
I asked my parents to watch my tank until I either get situated in Afghanistan or come back and my dad has done salt longer then me so he said no problem. Being that I hooked up the reactor to save my parents the hassle of adding stuff daily, now I need a pH monitor and solenoid. I really don't have money until I get over there so I guess I can unhook it until my first check and send my dad the money for the stuff to get it running again. I just never had that problem until now. I know I needed the solenoid but just didn't have the money.
