convert venturi to needle wheel???

    just wondering if it is possible and efficient to block the venturi hole on a skimmer and replace the pump with a needle wheel pump?

    in theory: both pump water and air into the skimmer body.

    venturi uses pump goes through pvc, and a hole in the pvc allows air to be pulled in with water and come through the exit in body to allow the bubbles to rise.

    needle wheel replaces the venturi hole in pvc, exits through body and allows bubbles to rise.

    so can i plug the venturi whole and just use a needle wheel pump and get the same effect?

    goal: more efficient micro bubbles. replace bigger pump with smaller needle wheel pump.

    currently running a mag 9.5 on a venturi-style skimmer with sub par results.

    I would think it is possible, just need to find a pump that fits the flow-through rate of your skimmer to get it matched up.
