I have a 220v plug I can use. I want to run 220v to power heads, skimmer, lights....etc. Do they make all the items i need for my tank easily accesible to buy in 220v (thats eroupe voltage i belive)? If i convert everything to 220v, how much of a savings am i looking at?

I run most of my tank on 220v because of kilowatt saving as it takes less current to run something at higher voltage but the device has to be able to take that voltage. A regular PH is not going to take 220v, some large pumps and lights will though.

Well, yea.... I want to save on the kilowatt's too, as lights are expensive to run and so is my pumps. I dont think i can get away with power heads and skimmer pumps tho. Thats why I was wondering if they were easy to order. Since this is a new setup, I would be buying all new and not "replacing". "if" I went with my original design, I wanted my tank in the living room and the sump/refuge 50 feet away with a 4ft and 3 foot drop, like this:

    tank---I____I---- Sump/refuge

would take a big pump to do that kind of work. Mucho electricity! If I went 220v on the pump, might as well do everything if could find the parts that run on 220v. Again, this is if I would save some decent money on KW's.

    Otty,

How many circuits, what voltage, and what amperage do you have for your set-up?
Do you feel this is the right amount or would you change things a bit?
