I have a tidepool 2 model sump that I use for my tank is there anyway I can converted that into a refugium sump most of the left side is filled with equipment so that space is taking, but there is the right side that is where the water comes in at but it is like a half chamber, any ideas, or should I look at buying one, i tried a diy one but gave up after I finished, too concern that it wouldnt work but I may try it and see what to do.

Might be able to just keep it simple by adding some egg crate to keep chaeto and other macros away from the return pump.

depending on the size of your return pump you could use that, the problem I see you running into is the divider wall not staying on place when you silicone it to the hard plastic container.
Personally a 30 gallon breeder tank will work great for you, slightly larger that that filter unit and smooth glass walls to add the divider walls to :)
