What the heck is this? I came home today to find this hanging from under one of my live rocks. The rock has been there for 4 months. First time I have seen it. It is soft and seem to have a foot like an anemone, but I have never seen one like this. Almost fern like limbs, almost a peach or very light orange in color.

yeah i tend to agree, i think it looks a lot like a fairly common sea sponge, if you plan on keeping it try not to touch it with your fingers unless you absolutely have to, and don't remove it from the water (they are almost guaranteed to die if you do) I tried to identify what type of sponge it is exactly but I wasn't entirely successful if you do find out please let me know. my boyfriend and I have seen something similar in our aquarium in the past, we didn't take much notice of it though as it was around the time we'd first started out.

Honestly I think that is more for the one's you buy in a fish store, the nicer looking decorative sponges. I have had so many sponges as hitchhikers throughout the years and have always taken them out of water with no ill affects, not that i am saying it is OK to do but I think the one's we get for free are a lot hardier than we think they are, heck that goes for most things in the ocean too.
