It's been awhile since I last bought fish for my tank. The current residents have been content so I've been in a holding pattern for the last 7 months or so.

Over the last two months I unexpectedly lost two fish, though.

A very skittish purple firefish who would spend the entire day in a hole in my rock. I had him for about a year but over time he became more and more timid. Eventually he stopped eating at all and was afraid of the commotion during feeding time and would dart back into his hole before eating.

6 weeeks after losing my firefish, I also lost a very cool Lawnmower Blenny unexpectedly. He was a good 4" or so with a fat belly. Spent all day grazing on the back glass, powerheads and rocks and was generally quite active. One day he was keeled over on sand - was pretty bummed.

I got a gift card to LiveAquaria and pulled the trigger on some new residents.

    I picked up a

    - Very small orange line chromis
    - Redhead salon fairy wrasse
    - McCoskers flasher wrasse

I'm hoping the wrasses behave themselves together and the chromis isn't a nuisance.

    They're drip acclimating right now.

    Pics coming soon

Very nice! I have read that mixing fairy wrasses and flasher wrasses is acceptable, however I have no experience in doing it.

Thanks for the reassurance, it will be a new experience for me as well. I didn't come across that much info on mixing them specifically. We'll see how it goes.

Everyone is drip acclimating now. The water came in a little cold for each bag ~73F. I transferred them all into bowls and sped up the drip a bit to try and warm up the water. So far the fairy and chromis are pretty active and swimming around. The flasher is just kind of hanging out at the bottom.

I just snapped some pics - will upload in a bit.

It is acceptable and usually works well. I've done it before.

The red heads can be a bit more on the aggressive side for fairy wrasses though, so just keep an eye on the situation.

Thanks for the info evolved, I'll keep an eye on things.

Here are the pics I grabbed so far, everyones still pretty stressed I think. I wish I had a darker container to acclimate with.

    Thanks guys!

Ive been super slow to acclimate everybody.. Wanted to make sure the water is matched up as close as possible. It also turns out my fish aren't exactly as calm and welcoming as I thought they were. The chromis was the first to go in the tank. He's very tiny - about an inch and my clowns have been pretty rough on him so far. I heard the females' face hit the glass twice trying to peck him. I had an existing green chomis in my tank already which was about twice his size hoping they would pair up. Wishful thinking perhaps. Between the 3 of them the new orange stripe has barely had a second to breath.

I fed the tank - turned off the actinic T5's which earlier I raised about two feet off the surface. I tuned on my Crees and dimmed them to 15% and they're raised 2ft as well. Kind of a like a moonlight situation going on now. Probably should have done that to begin with. The fish seem calmer. New chromis is hiding in the corner.

Haven't seen the flasher wrasse since he hit the water. He found a spot somewhere in the rocks and is hanging out.
