    Apparently neither.

After checking out LA again, it's listed as:

    Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse

    whoops! :-[

Just use the other common name and go with "clown head wrasse" :)

The flasher may take a week or two to fully settle in; they can be quite skiddish.

I do believe some sort of cover or mesh is in order for my tank now.

I lean over the container to scoop up the fairy wrasse, he shot straight out of the water and flopped under an equipment cabinet next to my tank. In a mad panic I clear off the cabinet, slide it out of the way, pick him up and place him in the tank.

These guys have had a rough couple of days.

I"m thinking about leaving the lights off again tomorrow and just using the LEDs on very low to let everyone sett.e

Your tank isn't covered? This will be a problem indeed, and must be addressed ASAP.

I once lost a Labouti during his first night, and my tank was covered with an eggcrate. I now have 1/4" clear mesh.

I should have thought ahead and grabbed something. I'm going to checkout a fabric store near me and see if I can find anything. If not, I have some spare eggrate I could probably use as a temporary solution. I noticed some nice clear mesh on BRS recently. If I can't find anything tonight at the fabric store, I'll probably have to order some from them.

What's a common way to hold the mesh down while keeping it easy to remove? Do people usually usually build a frame of some sort and stretch/mount it across?

Exactly, a regular window screen frame it is.

Also, be cautious with the eggcrate. As stated, fish will go right through it if they're small enough (which the flasher definitely is).

BRS recently started carrying that since the demand for it was huge and previously it was hard to come by.

I found some stuff called "Bird Netting" made by DuPont at Lowes lastnight. It's a plastic netting used to keep birds and stuff out of gardens I think. The holes are a little big, around 1/2" so I might have to double up on the stuff but the actual plastic is very thin. I'm a little worried about losing light in the tank. I also got some aluminum door frame and rubber spline.

I had both frames cut and put together when I realized the cashier didn't put the spline in the bag for me. Guess I'm going back later today. Also because the frame is aluminum and I'm not sure about how it will stand up long term, I plan to seal the gaps and put a couple coats of Black Krylon paint on it.

I got the 1/4" clear mesh from BRS and love it. I have a Purple Firefish, and even he can't fit through it...and yes, he tried. No loss of light that I tell (no shadows).

I hope I have the same experience. I'm going to try and compare both ways. My tank will take two cover sections. On one I will double mesh it to make the holes smaller. The other I'll leave a single layer to compare light output in the tank with both of them up. If I don't see a difference I'll go with double for sure. I thought more about it - a single layer will provide holes the size of eggcrate roughly. Probably too big.

Also forgot to mention that I was surprised to see both wrasses and the chromis out and swimming freely by the end of the day yesterday. They stayed clustered on one side of the tank - kind of like outcasts. The current fish calmed down and left the newbies to their own devices on the far side of the tank.

This morning I find the flasher wrasse in a "C" shape laying on his side on top of the sand floating around in the open. I thought he was dead for sure. Tapped the glass and he woke up out of his daze and swam around.. Is that normal for flashers? To curl up and lay on their sides in the open like a dead fish? After a few minutes he seemed normal like nothing ever happened. He seems pretty weird. I saw him do the same thing yesterday for just a minute or two to rest - then hes normal again. hmm

My flasher wrasse did that whenever I was close to the tank for the first couple days. I think he is playing dead and hasn’t found a spot where he likes to hide. Now mine has two holes in my live rock he occasionally hides in. One hole doesn’t offer much cover but he can see most of the tank from it. The other is for serious hiding when he is sleeping and all I can see is his little orange eye peeking out. He is getting bolder ever day though.
