I think you're right BigJim. I came home from work today and all new additions were swimming about with the rest of the fish - exploring around. They don't seem skittish at all when I approach the tank. The aggression issues have seriously toned down with OG fish.

Fed the tank again - everybody feasted - that was a major surprise.

I know it's generally not a good idea to add multiple fish at the same time, especially without QT. In this case, I can't help but think adding them together at the same time was overall for each as an individual. They seemed to have bonded a bit and are usually together, at least for now. It also appears they help each other gain confidence to explore and eat. I think it also confused the existing fish since there wasn't just one new guy to pick on and force into hiding for awhile. Rather, there are a couple new fish and they don't really know what's going on.

Anyway, I'm very happy that they are all out, swimming freely and eating!

I'll grab some updated pics soon.

Also finished 1/2 the cover. The netting was a pain to double layer evenly so I just gave it one layer. I'll order some of the BRS stuff soon and hope for the best w/ what I've got for now.

Congrats on the fish, they're very pretty!
Don't freak out when you see the McCosker's laying in or against a rock with a mucus cocoon around him, it's just his "blankie" for sleeping. I freaked out when I got mine years ago & saw that!

Finished up the cover for my tank lastnight. It was very easy actually, maybe spent 45 minutes on this total. Like I said, I used some screen door frame, bird netting and rubber spline. Not even $20 in parts and I've got enough materials left over to make another set or two.

I'm still not quite sure how I feel about the hole size. Half of me thinks it should work just fine, the other half says the right kind of jump going fast enough and they could still make it through. I don't know. I'll probably end up keeping it until my next BRS order, which will probably be soon since I'm running low on carbon. At that point I'll pick some up and try it out. The frame and spline I'll be able to reuse so it should be very quick to swap out.

Here's what I came up with. The frame sits very nicely on the inner lip of the trim.

The holes are too big, honestly. Been through this rodeo too many times I'm afraid. My new rule is whatever hole size you think is small enough, use half that.

Just consider that each "jumper" is a slippery, flexible torpedo with a hole-aligning pointed end. :)

Thanks for that - I might have been trying to kid myself but glad someone spoke up. I'll get some of the smaller stuff sooner rather than later. Hopefully what I have will hold over until then.

Great pics. If you have left over netting just add pieces that that will have the intersections in the middle of the openings.
