Just wondering what you guys think is the coolest running submersible pump is? I really would like to avoid having to buy a chiller or blow fans on the top and get crazy evap rates.... my house is typically at 75* and never really goes any higher than that. But I would really like to avoid/minimize adding any heat from my pump..

Use an external pump if you can.

I don't think an external pump is an option my sump isn't drilled nor do I have the room under my stand

well forget it I guess, I just found an Eheim 1262 for $90 used.. Since I hear these are the best pumps out there I'll give it a shot and cycle my tank with that.. If its too hot i guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a chiller... I can't pass up a deal like that.

The vast majority of external pumps are still cooled internally by water. There is no advantage.

There is no such thing as "coolest" pump... only the most efficient. Pushing the most water with the fewest watts. With all internally cooled pumps, all watts used end up as heat added to the system. There is no difference between a 90w heater and a 90w Mag 9.5 pump... it's 90 watts.

Now a 1262 happens to be 20 watts less than a Mag 9.5, and a real efficient pump.... next, turn it down as much as you can. throttling a pump does absolutely nothing to the pump, but moving more water than needed, uses more watts than needed, which adds more heat than needed.

    Next you can consolidate pumps.
