copepods already?

    i think these little white things scooting all ovey my glass are copepods. my tank has been cyclyin with lr and r for 3 weeks. any input?

    I'm sure they are, honestly. You probably have much more than just pods. Dusters and worms and stars, oh my! Part of what come on LR. The problem is I know what you're thinking. :D

    No it's not time for that mandarin yet. :) But yes you could, and most likely do, already have pods.

    Like is there a certain time i should start my photo period or is there anything i should start thinking about dosing? when i checked my tank this morning there were more pods then i have seen in there, they must be multiplying

    i wouldn't start dosing, or even considering dosing until you get test kits.

    with that being said you will find you salt that you paid a pretty penny for. will get most of your parameters in the right ranges. only heavily coral stocked aquariums will use minerals fast enough between water changes to warrant dosing.

    also yes it is normal to have pods. they has to be some originally for them to breed in our tanks, so it is expected to have pods on the liverock before its even in your tank.

    i usually start my photoperiod during my cycle, and really only consider doing a no light cycle if algae is really bad. this way you get to see all the hitch hikers.

    If your tank is still cycling, I would just run actinics during your cycling phase. Once you are good to go with that, then add daylight. Are you still cycling? Or am I just getting the wrong idea? Sorry if I am confusing......it is my nature.

    ya i am still cycling i am prob more then 3 weeks in but im still goin to run just actinics for another 1-2 weeks untill i get my first fish.
