Most copepods speak english very well, just ask them if they are there, and then listen VERY close for a response...the more you hear the more of a population you have..kind of like Horton Hears a Who. ;D

I saw someone on page one say "its easy enough to check your copod population"..... what's your methos? I think the poster of this thread would appreciate it.... as for myself if I stare at one small area of LR, sand or glass I can copods, even in the middle of my daylight hours, ibut I would have to say when I see the most pods is at night with my LED or shortly after my lights turn on (they're still all out) the glass looks like someone salted it lol...

Hope some of this info helped ya out

Turn off you lights for an hour. That means your room lights, TV, and moon lights too. You can now go back with a flashlight covered with red cellophane and look for them. Alternatively, one can rely one can build a DIY light trap with a one-time use light stick. light sticks - Google Search Another easy thing to do if you don't want to count them in a light trap is to put a small penlight against the tank somewhere and then come back 15 minutes later. They will "go towards the light". There are many different ways, use your imagination. Just be sure to give them total darkness for a while ahead of time.

you know you have them if you shine a flashlight into your tank at night after lights out and you see something that looks like ants running around.

I can usually see them without turning the lights out. Just study one sopt for a extended period. Try this near the glass. the more you stare in the same spot, the more you eyes are able to adjust to see these tiny creatures, even with lights on!
