Llast night I had a major cl score 85 lbs of rock free.its out of a 10+yr old system. It has blue coloring on alot of the rocks but only on 1 side. K know some copper products stain things blue but im not sure this is the case or not.I haven't added it to my tank yet its in my rock curing bin. Is there any way to tell other then sacrificing some shrimps?

Wouldn't I need to wait a pretty decent amount of time before it leaches into the water?

Cuprisorb is inexpensive. Might as well run it in the curing tub just to be on the safe side.

Test the water in the bin for copper. I think you thinking of Malachite green.

Now here's a question? If a tank was treated with copper with LR in it, is that rock in fact ruined, since rock is porous and the copper can work it's way into it. If that is the case, copepods & other needed life will never thrive with the present of copper.

I know there are copper products that stain things blue. How long would I need to wait to test the water? Also if it was copper would the entire rock be stained? Only 1 side is blue

You should be able to test for copper starting today.

A pic of the rock would help.

If it were copper, I would think the entire rock would be stained, if stained at all. Not just one side. I would think it would more likely be calcareous algae. However, it never hurts to test for copper just to be safe. The price of a test kit is nothing compared to lost invertebrates down the road if in fact it is copper. Just my 2 cents anyways.
