I have been attempting to use Cupramine for nearly a week now. I have dosed the tank with exactly what it is supposed to be dosed with. I have a 0 PPM level of copper according to the Seachem test kit. I dosed again and again and again. Still a 0 ppm copper level. I even bought another test kit by RedSea and it says the same thing. 0 ppm copper. What gives??? In the mean time my tang is slowly getting worse by the day! Barebottom 20 gallon with a hydro sponge filter by ATI, a Walmart heater, and a few pieces of PVC. Nearing my wits end here people. I need some help! Thank in advance!

you used cupramine? hyposalinity is probably the best treatment IMO. try lowering the salinity until you reach 1.011, but do it in a course of a few days to avoid stressing the tang out more

? well IME for my QT i used half the water in my tank and half freshly made SW. I lowered it to 1.011 and did partial water changes daily. I'm assuming you didnt change water daily, because if you didnt then everything will die of ammonia

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    No carbon right?

Make up a small batch of water and keep adding the copper until you see a value, that may help you see specifically how many drops you need to add to see a value.

You probably know that copper or formalin should never be used when treating with hyposalinity.

I doubt both test kits are wrong, just go slow.

    Good Luck

I have an amonia alert in the tank. Everything has been good. I have done two water changes this week. I also dosed the new water before adding it. All parameters are in check.

No carbon. But that is a good idea. I am going to make up a gallon right now and dose it. It should fall into the .5 range if I am dosing correctly. Yes I am aware I should never use hypo with meds.

I realize this tank is a bit small for him. But it is only temporary and I refuse to just add fish to my dt without quarantine first. I would rather lose 1 fish in qt than lose 10 in my dt.
