I have two tangs (blue and yellow) in my 120 FOWLR tank and I wanted to add a new fish. I was wondering if the tangs would be too aggressive for the butterfly? They get along ok together but when I first put them in there they fought like crazy. Any opinions?

the copperband may find itself the victim of bullying from the Yellow Tang

not experienced this myself as I have never had them in same tank
but I have read at least 2 accounts on this site that ended badly for the copperband
as a result of bullying from an establised yellow tang

how large are the two tangs? One thing to consider is the DBB can be a very difficult fish to keep because of its very specalized feeding habits. If you find that that will readily take prepared foods in your LFS, you may be ok. otherwise, they may just starve to death.

CBB are very shy fish, I lost one due to starvation for that reason. They are finnicky eaters to begin with, but when kept with more dominant fish I found they were no match when it came to feeding time. Mine was doing decently, was eating frozen foods at the LFS prior to buying it. However, it was just not getting enough food compared to my other fish and was impossible to isolate and feed it. I guess it's possible that it died suddently due to the method it may have been harvested, but I tend to believe it starved as so many do in the home aquarium.

I would suggest maybe finding another fish that might be a bit more robust in terms of temperment as not to waste the $ on the CBB.

Maybe 1 in 4 copperbands survives to begin with. As others have said, they are very shy and tangs will decrease those odds significantly as CBs do not do well with bullying at all.

what about putting in two more tangs and calling it a day. i heard that introducing more than one at a time will decrease aggression any one fish will have to deal with. I was thinking of adding a naso tang and an orangeshoulder tang. All four would then be different species and three of four would be considered peaceful, with the yellow tang being semi-aggressive (whatever that means) according to fosters and smith.
