Hello all, I have recently purchased a Beautiful 5" Copperband Butterfly Fish from my LFS and Looks very healthy in color and movement.
I've been researching this fish for a while and finally decieded to go about getting rid of my Aiptasia with him..

I acclimated it for about 1 & a half hours in my tank before releasing it and seems to be breathing fine..
Now being in my tank for 2 days, it has been hiding kinda sideways, swimming, under a big rock bridge.(like its hiding from the light or somthing) and wont eat!!

It does look kinda BIG for my tank compared to the other tank mates, which are all reef safe.. But it doesn't come out to eat at all:-X ]

Im wondering if the copperband is too big for my tank, and if it's not eating because of the acclimation??? Should I Try and exchange him for a much smaller Copperband at my LFS?? They have about 8 left that are about 2" big which would probably fit my tank a whole lot better:cheesy:

What do you guy's think I should do?? Any input and or advice??;D
    Thanks!!

    How old is the tank?
Honestly, I would say with 99% certainty its a goner. CBB's are VERY delicate and difficult fish. Was it a Australian or common variety?

Did you see it eat before you bought it?

I don't know what to do, I don't want to let it waste away in my tank and it's bothering me.

Maybe I'll just try to bag it and exchange>/

I'm worried about this one. They are delicate, as previously stated. I think you have a good idea with the trade out......

But you have to also consider he is already stressed from the new environment, bagging him up and taking him back might do more harm to him than good. I would suggest first trying a wider variety of foods, what exactly are you feeding? And try to soak the food in a garlic "extract" or whatever they are called, many finicky feeders smell the garlic and can't resist! And how big is he roughly?

My personal experience was that it worked best to quarantine the CB on it's own for six to eight weeks, making sure it had no competition for food, and got used to the foods I used. Then I placed it in the tank, and while it is still somewhat skittish, it at least has no problem feeding, although it tends to pick food away from the regal tang.
Mine is in a 65g tank and I've had it for many years.

Ok Thanks for the advice, I feed my tank all types of frozen foods during the week and I always use Kent's liquid garlic extract..
He is about 6" long and 5" tall, Very big..

Glad to hear that you had such a great success with your CBB rayjay!!
I should have used a Quarantine tank, but i never have with any of my tank mates..
surprisingly enough i've never had Ick or anything in my tank, Knock on WOOD!!1

    THANKS
