I just never every see stylophora here for sale and honestly I am a little worried about it's care. I guess because unless I want to order one on line I will probably not get another chance at one for awhile.

Sorry to hear about the sps issues.

Mid level in my tank the redplanet maintained it's green, now higher up it stills has some green in the older growth but it is extremely red over all.

Your corals have had more than enough time to acclimate so they should be showing some color improvements unless they are not getting enough food or the lighting. Hard to tell regarding the lighting because of the distance you may have them at from the fixture. I also had a 4bulb T5 fixture and my sps grow slowly and never had the same colors. That is a hard call.

Flow had proven to be more important than I would have guessed when I started this second attempt at keeping sps. I played with power head placement more than I would care to admit.

I guess I would attempt to move them up and feed them if you are not. I like Rods food, nothing special but the acroporas love it.

 

Stylophora is very easy as SPS corals go.

Thanks for the advice. I recently did change some flow patterns in the tank. I have a mixed tank, so too much flow was too much for the softies, so I'm somewhere in between now, with a Koralia 750gph and a MJ-1200 with one of those rotating heads (Used to have this one with the sure flow mod and the smaller propeller), added to the flow the mag drive 9.5 puts out (850gph at 3 feet overhead), I think I'm good.

I know something is wrong. The RP seems to be getting lighter and lighter at the base where it was encrusting on the plug.

I feed the tank once a week with micro-vert and phyto feast and turn the skimmer off for 24 hours after feeding. I know target feeding may work better in this case, but I can't get around to turn all pumps off.
