Coralline, I hate to hear about the red bugs. alot of folks around here have gotten them and the interceptor treatment worked wonders! best of luck with it. it is proven to work.

I LOVE that stylopora! you HAVE to save me a clipping of it when time comes. Im working on getting mine grown out for you as well.

Something must be in the water... :p I have red bugs right now as well, and will begin treatment next week. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I do plan on pulling the hermits I can see, but I'm going to chance it with my coral banded shrimp. There's just no easy way to catch him.

Strange days....your red bugs, my M.E.N., I have a friend with so many flatworms that you literally can barely see the rocks.
Gorgeous tank none the less and hope you can eradicate your pest.

I am looking forward to seeing your stylo, everyone knows I love pictures. Yes nothing but good reports regarding it's effectiveness.

Let me know how it works out. The only way to catch a pistol is to dig it out. I really wish he was not an issue. I only have one old hermit and the acropora crab. Luckly I have another tank in the closet I will set up for them if need be, seeing as the recommendation is to not re-introduce them until after all three treatments.

    Thanks reefmonkey. :)

I have been reading that a lot of people have gotton rid of the red bugs inadvertantly when the temp of their tanks dropped below 74 F, in an unplanned temp swing. I recently increased the heater temp to avoid winter temp swings and I wonder if that played a role in their arrival.

I wasn't going to say anything because I was embarrassed. I've had them too for a few weeks now. Corailline knows ! ;)

Interceptor is on it's way. However I plan on numerous isolated treatments.

I would not feel bad Nismo, you would have to QT frags for weeks. It is not like they are really visable. And no significant noteable adverse side effects from the little buggers yet. If I had not taken a close up I would not have seen them.

I thought of going the isolated treatment way, but some of my frags are attached to the rockwork and I want the risk of re-infestion to be very low.

This the piece today and honestly it looks fine, for now at least.

I agree that looks really good. I found red bugs on the Blue Haze Acro I have. I pulled it out since it is not attached and did a 15 minute dip in ReVive. Polyps are mostly back out. They were not showing at all. I had been looking at the coral for the bugs but could not see them until last night. They were dancing like it was 1999. Arrgggh!!

    What ????

    You have red bugs now:cry:

I tried dipping the coral but the little buggers held on tight, I believe they dug in. I figured I was stressing the coral more than the RB so treatment it is for me.::)

You need to shake the coral or run good flow on it after the dip. ReVive stuns them and they fall off. I have fought with them for a while now. Iodine dips were so so. I thought I had them after 2 ReVive dips but they showed up on this coral about 3 weeks later. I have 5 or 6 corals they seem to bother. Most are on rocks I can remove and put in a 5 gallon bucket to treat.

    Hmmm

Thanks for the tip, I think I will give that a go. It is strange how they will be on one acropora and the acropora next to it be free. What type of acropora are they bothering the most?

Did you get all your frags on-line?
