Beautiful coral, looks like the scroll is starting to grow. What is wrong with the valida?

Yes the scroll is growing, so slow though.

The Valida never did much and had no red bugs ( I looked and looked). Well I treated for red bugs at the same time I changed out the bulb and now it is doing better and growing. Weather is was the red bug treatment or the new bulb or both I have no idea????

Valida are affected by red bugs, I have had them on mine. So I suspect that a large part of its change is from the red bug treatment.

    Hmm

You know I wondered if the brown coloration of the tissue made it almost impossible to see them. I looked for months, but I am inclined to think your right.

Does yours have similar coloration as mine and how fast is it growing?

I had a formosa that was very affected by red bugs, but I never saw any on it either. It has polyps now which I never saw prior to treatment.

    Looking good still!

    Thanks evolved.

I do not get it. You can tell by the picture that I would be able to see them, that is how I found the others looking at images.

Another weird Cheryl theory: A different type of anthropod, similar to RB or the red bugs spend different stages of their life cycle on different types of acorporas. They maybe too small to see??

Yes, except some of the lower polyps are fluorescent green. I will try and get some good pics to show you. I would say it grows fairly fast when not bothered. Flow has a lot to do with their growth form and speed.

I have a formosa and it has never been bothered by red bugs. Very strange.

Very possible, I did see the bugs on mine.

Yes mine is thin and spindly looking. I like the thicker branch look better, but I do really like the purple/blue tips.

I don't think they are thick growers like some coral. They grow tight with high flow and spaced apart with low flow.
