in the flash pick just above the pink mille you can see my green clown goby who terrorized my frags until disappearing for 5 months. The 'yellow" one is a green slimer supposedly but you know how it goes. I haven't been feeding much the last couple of months and with the algae using up nutrients it pretty much is a ultra low nutrient system. I have to do something now though since my kole tang started to develop HLFE. Ive been feeding everyday with vitamin enriched various foods and he looks perfect again.

Tomorrow, or sometime next week lol, I'll rinse out my prefitler sponge on my return pump, and the add some GFO to my reactor and pull the carbon. After that I'll be back to manual removal for a couple weeks as I have die off and it will be clear.

This is all from ignoring my sponge as I thought my system was so low nutrient it wouldn't get bad again. I went to take it out and BAM! all was lost. It didnt help my fuge crashed a bit either at the same time though.

We could do a straight trade of red planet for purple/blue digitata? You might already have RP I got a few frags that ought to be good to go in 3 weeks, knock on wood. I might frag my Green neon tortousa soon. eekkkk, makes me nervous.

my red planet is perpetually cream/tan/green. Its so unhappy. I don't have any idea why. I mean, I sorta get that I am the worst reef keeper ever, as shown by what I call 'Exhibit A [IMG]

But come on, how can I have so much success with other delicate SPS and the relitivly hearty RP frag is floundering.

PS That cyphastrea is an awesome blue and green without flash!

I do not know, I am kind of the mind set that RP is like xenia in that it does spectacular in one tank, but is unable to hold coloration or grow in others. I see it time and time again. The cyphastera is next to the RP? Nice encrusting.
What coral is behind the RP to the right, looks like an encrusting monti?

Ok this is the sick part. Thats an orange digi that didnt have PE for a year, but looks awesome now, the back right is an undata. My red planet that has always had great PE and a little bit of growth (my light is average and my alk and CA are usually at the lower end of freef levels) is in the middle of my other frag rack. I have three bleaching corals on there that are extending polyps and growing at stable but slow rates, but they won't color up. My RP takes a go at it every couple of months then blanches out again.

I would be hard pressed to blame the coloration and growth on lack of nutrition. but it looks similar to the coloration you see on some ULNS.
Must be your lighting, would also explain the GHA growth.
I think I am going to look into more encrusting monti. No more acropora, no room. Also some zoanthids.
Your green slimmer is the perfect color yellow I have been wanting, but it probably will not stay that way.

that guy has been in there for a year growth is starting to take off and he is gonna kill a hawkin's blue echinata. Im going to clip the hawkins and put him on another plug if you want Ill see how the green/yellow slimer grows and send you the frag plug its growing on.

Spectacular looking tank – thank you for sharing these pictures. I have not read this thread (yet) just enjoyed your initial post from October – going to go back and read some with my morning coffee. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of your beautiful tank !
