Simple question but I don't know the answer.....Besides Sponges are there any corals that can not have contact with the air. I am asking this because I need to move some of my rock and need to take it out of my tank for a little but don't want to kill any of my corals! Thanks in advance!

1/2 hour. 1 hour at the absolute most but if it would be that long I will fill buckets and put them in there!

+1 Although I've left sps corals out for far longer than that with no adverse effects. Better to be safe than sorry though so store them in buckets and if you find that the water in the buckets starts getting cold, add heaters to the buckets.

Pretty much any coral can be exposed to air but most should not be left out of water for too long. I've read that gorgonians shouldn't be exposed to air at all but I've never had them die on me when I transferred them from LFS baggie to tank.

lol when i was changing tanks i fragged some green stars and left the pieces on my filter cover and forgot about them for like 3 hours, they were completely dry and put them back in . took awhile put the eventully opened up. and are now fine. now if that was like a frogspawn or something i doubt it would be a happy ending.

Sponges can't get exposed to air because it get trapped in them, preventing them from 'eating', I can't think of any other coral that CANT be exposed, but as a general rule, I only leave my corals out in the air for no more than 30sec. as the others have said, usually shorter.
