    sponges will burn at the par rating of the sun in low tide which is why they stay totally emerged in water at low tide.

    there are many natural reefs that are exposed to air and direct sunlight that are mainly sps for hours at a time and when exposed to water again extrude a mucus which expels bio waste, lps are deeper and rarely get exposed to air, all others almost never get exposed to air during a low tide.

    ive left my sps's exposed to air for almost an hour and there were no ill effects. if you have a worry just dunk them in a bucket to keep them moist or put them in a bucket with water flow, just keep an eye on the temp.
