Just curious. I bought a Coral banded shrimp last week. I put him in the tank and all was cool. He was looking around and scrounging. The next morning, I tried to find him. I couldn't for the longest time. He was hidden hanging under a rock. Well, that's cool, he has so far met a better fate than the green chromis that I pulled out of the pump.

But anyways, Since the first morning, he has been pearched on this rock and will not move. I even tried to motivate him to leave the rock. He went down, then came right back up to the same spot. Now, he's been in this same spot for 5 days. Is that normal?

Sounds just fine to me. They will usually pick a nice spot and sit there. As long as his claws are being held up as usual and he's still going for food I wouldn't worry.

Looks like Otty Got it. I woke up this morning to an empty shell. I think it was the shell, I couldn't find him though. I didn't have much time to look and the lights were off.

He will hide for a couple days after they molt. You should start seeing him by the weekend. How is the lights doing on the tank??

He molted this morning. this evening, he's back on his rock again. I bought him so I could see him, but the little bugger just hangs out where he can't be seen.

He was probably just molting to get used to your water as oppsed to the tank he was in. I find mine does that sometimes when I mix up new salt water that is slightly higher salinity.

Mine was fairly shy. You could see his antena sticking out, but it was an event when he would come out into plain sight. WE ended up bringing him back to our LFS for a skunk cleaner.

Coral Bandeds are territorial and will usually stake out one place and protect it. Mine hangs out under one rock and will not let the cleaner shrimp come near that space, however, he does move about the tank especially when the lights are out. He will always come out when I am feeding my Orange Polyps
