I had a CBS for a few months; when it came time to molt, I was at school. I come home and- WTF?!?!?! My CBS was scattered in pieces! I could see its molted exoskeleton, but it was as if he exploded! His claws were scattered on both sides of the tank, the body was just there without antennae, and all the legs were scattered too. Anyone have this problem? This even happened to my LFS once, so....... WTF!?!?!?!?

Your maroon clown may have been the culprit. I've heard of clown and other damsels ripping apart shrimp, but i think its usually been during mating time adn in pairs when the shrimp wanders into their territory.

haha. That's the exoskeleton, after the molt. It happened while you were at school, remember? ::) The legs & antennae aren't the strong part of the old skeleton, so the water flow often ends up blowing them about the tank. Your shrimpy friend is in hiding for now, until his new skeleton is hard enough to provide protection.

That is unless...roger has a point. Your fish may have bullied it with a soft shell.:-/

Actually I didn't have a maroon or damsel; I got them after the shrimp died..... and at my local LFS the shrimp was isolated and the same happened to him......

Sorryto here this SW Guy. I had something similar to mine. Well, I think I did. My 2 Pacific Cleaner shrimp were about ready to molt when I(had a CB angel at the time) went on vacation this summer. I got back & haven't seen them since I left. :( The tank has been disassembled & I did not find them.
