Coral banded shrimp .... Injuries?

    I've got a coral banded shrimp and my square back anthia is convinced he should be cleaning him and harrasses him.

    I'm noticing a lot of tattered fins on the anthia, I've seen no aggressive behavior from anyone in the tank, and the shrimp is new.

    Can they inflict injury like that? It's basically nips out of his fins. I'll try to get a pic

    Sounds more like territorial aggression and the fish doesn't know when to give up. Either way, yes... the shrimp most definitely can and will tear his fins in self-defense.
