Not sure if this is appropriate for ASAP, but I don't want to lose anymore fish.

I have had my coral beauty for around 2 months now, and he's been doing great. Eating well, very active, vibrant colors. 2 days ago he lost most of his color suddenly, but was still active. Colors came back by the next morning, still eating well, etc. - and then quickly died last night.

My 6 line wrasse has been in the tank for about 2 weeks, no signs of stress, eating well, swimming, always in and out of my rocks, full of color - and he died suddenly this morning.

No signs of parasites, heavy breathing, lack of appetite, etc. with either fish. If it was just one, I would think there was a problem with that fish, but both died with quickly, with no warning.

I still have 2 yellow tail damsels, 1 lawnmower blenny, and 1 maroon clown. All are very healthy, not acting strange, all eating well and no signs of parasites or stress. Again, like the other ones, but I don't want them to keel over dead with no warning. Is there anything I could do to help ensure their survival? My peppermint shrimp is doing well, snails are all doing well, anemones still doing great, eating, etc.

    Water params:

    Temp - 78
    SG - 1.025
    PH - 8.4
    NO2 - 0
    NO3- 15
    NH4 - 0
KH - high (@300), I have been slowly lowering by doing water changes with RO
    PO4 - 1
    CA - 320

I vary my feed with frozen Marine Cuisine, flake, and Spectrum Thera (small pellets, supposed to prevent illness / parasites).

    :confused::confused: Any advice?

Edit - I thought at first my coral beauty was poisoned due to eating pieces of my zoas. I noticed 3-4 polyps that were nipped at extensively, to the point where they had no tentacles / skirt left on them. That would make sense as they're poisonous and he's the only one that would have pecked at them. However, the 6 line never bothered them.

Also, what are peoples thoughts on Aqua Pro-Cure? It says it's reef / invertebrate safe. Would it help to add a dose of this?

What Type of prefilters do you have on your powerheads? This is really the only thing i can think of. If they were sleeping and got sucked up against a powerhead inlet or your filter inlet, they could have died. Another fish could have come by later and plucked them off of it. I saw this with small chromis but nothing as large as a CB or sixline.

Good thought; however, I have 2 Koralia 1 powerheads, so no prefilter. Other than those, I have a return from my sump and a standard overflow box.

Thanks uncle :) (hehehe, it sounds hilarious :D) That actually makes more sense :) I got used to standard German KH/GH unit conventions. BTW, very interesting article! Thanks for sharing!

Sorry for your loss! Have you checked your ammonia levels lately? We lost several fish a while back and due to good advice from 3reef friends we determined we had an ammonia spike. Very bad thing to have - - - good luck!
