    Hey,

I'm new too marine fish keeping so bare with me.
Have had the tank for about a month and recently added a coral beauty (5 days ago). The only other tank makes are a tubro snail, longspine urchin and a pair of carks clowns and they are all fine.

The coral beauty, i think is acting a bit strange, it is always hiding in the live rock then comes out for a swim then goes back and hides. I would say 85% of the time it is always hiding.

I've added a picture, also notice the white spot on its fin, i've seen that since i've had the coral beauty and it hasnt grown or changed but im not sure what it is.

I think the fish looks healthy but would like some of your opinions.

    thanks!
    Aaron

Hi Fedders, Welcome to 3Reef !

Many things to consider, young tank, the set up, maintenance, parameters, acclimations ect….

Right now I would suggest the use of garlic additive to his food and tell us everything about the set up.

So you know...coral beautys are fish that likes to hide - and I do not see the white spot you referenced. Is this a reef or FOWLR ?

Crimson Ghost, thanks for the welcome!

The tank is a 130 leter FOWLR.

The parameters are as of just now:
    Ammonia: 0.25
    Nitrate: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Ph 8.3
    Temp: 28c

Will do a water change tomorrow.

The spot i am talking about is the white/off white mark on the back of its dorsal fin.
Do you think the fish overall looks health? it dosnt seem to eat much of the food fed in the tank so not sure how i would feed it a garlic additive, the fish seems to be eating things off the live rock.

    Thanks for your help!

You soak the food in garlic and then feed the tank – it’s helps keep your fish healthy and also increases their appetite.

I think your fish looks healthy, but I admittedly do not have the eye’s I use to so perhaps someone else might see more.

Your ammonia should be zero (what test kit are you using?) has anything died off?
