Coral Beauty.... easy or hard???

Nothing is certain! There are always exceptions to the rule. I've had one with no problems but many as you have read are a problem. Plus they aren't one of the easiest angels to keep. Flames, yellows, and half blacks are the easiest. On the whole though, centropyge angels are definitely better than the larger species of angels like the queen, french, emporer and the like!

 

I have found the same as many others. The one I had just died last week due to my smaller tank hitting 86 degrees. The coral actually did great in a tank. Even with a Flame Angel in the same tank. 46gal. However I also had to quarantine the Coral Beauty for about a month on 2 occasions. I also noticed that it spend about 1/2 of its life next to the cleaner shrimp constantly getting cleaned. What amazed me was the fact that if it was actually ich it was never transferred to another fish.
I may be mistaken but I do remember reading that either the Flame or the Coral Beauty has been having major problems with importing where over 1/2 of the fist die within the first 6 months. I will try to dig up that article.

 

true luck of the draw. Mine was my first fish over a year ago. He has survived all my newbie learning disaters, including a tang that developed ich and spread it to everything in my tank, killing everything except the beauty. Never has harassed my corals and continues to be my pride and joy!

 

i remember hearing that as well, my old boss said that if you didn't have enough sponges the flame angels would drop dead in about 6 months.
