HI Guys Finally yesterday i have manged to find a Flame anglefish and introduced her to my my 4.5ft reef aquarium..there is ample rock work and some corals..
I only had 2 common clowns, an orange spotted goby, cleaner wrasse, yellow wrasse, and last but not least a coral beauty. So in my opinion there should of been space for one more flame. But as soon as i put her in my coral beauty wouldnt stop chasing and fight...i tried to let her be for 30 mins but fighting didnt cease, this got me worried... so patiently i changed the rock work to destroy the beauty's habitat but it was another failure time 10 mins and back to fighting.. i was left with no option but to catch the beauty and put her in the refugium (and i can assure you it was a real pain to catch her had to put down all the rocks).
What do you guys suggest, shall I let her be in the refugium for a couple of weeks then put her back? I did change the rockwork a bit too now...I dont want to risk to have any of the fish dying and dont wish to to disrubt my fish and corals further.
    Your advice is much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Robert

i have a coral beauty in my 450 L and though i have not checked on the compatibility of a flame and beauty, just by looking at them and the colors they both share i would think it to be unwise to try and give them a common home. you could try re arranging the rock work again. adding her and turning the lights off. if the fighting continues then i would suggest to take one back.

by the way how long have you had that cleaner wrasse for?

glad to hear he is doing alright, as far as i know they are one of the hardest fish to keep. iv done some reading after i read your post and there are stories of success keeping the 2 dwarfs together but its a hit and miss kinda story.

you could perhaps catch them both re-arange the rock work to redefine territory and then add them together with lights off. but yea...goodluck regardless, hope things work out

Keeping 2 dwarf Angels in a tank is unwise... They are very aggressive twards their species. You may get lucky and find a pair that will coexist but it sounds like your pair won't be able to. Coral beauty's are amazing fish and fun to watch but I found that if you include sea sponge in their diet they are less aggressive. At least he seemed nicer to my fish but I only had one angel

+1 on that i forgot to mention beauties adore sponges. personally if i had to chose between a flame and a coral id go for the latter, hardier and to my eyes prettier (but thats cus blue is my fav color)

    Wow,

Good thing my 3 dwarf angels get along fine in my 125Reef.
    1 Flame
    1 Rust
    1 CB

    All bought at different times.

I agree with leaving the lights off, etc.

well like i said iv never tried it or considered it but from what i briefly read and from my limited knowledge of animals (as moby duck said as well) keeping same species together unless paired couples in a closed system is always a risk. it would seem that with dwarfs its a 50/50 chance.

must be beautiful though to have 3 D.angels in a tank.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Try the mirror taped to the side of the tank trick for a couple days.

Impossible to predict how one Angel will behavior over another Angel.

In one persons tank they can be well behaved with no aggression or coral nipping, in the next persons tank they can be nightmares. Top that off with they can change from mild well behaved fish to problem fish over night.

Personally if they do not work it out in the next day I would remove one before it gets too stressed.
