Sorry if there's already a thread about this but I was wondering if I could mix a coral beauty angel with a flame angelfish? I already have the coral beauty and still would love get get the flame angel. I have a 75 gallon tank with more than an ample amount of live rock 80-90 lbs for the fish to graze/hide in. I have 2 clowns, 3 tangs i just inherited (all get along great with e/o and the other small fish) a diamond goby, 6 line, chromie and of course the coral beauty. There is no fish picking on one another in the tank so i was wondering if i introduced the flame angelfish this late in the tank it would be okay with the other (established fish)? Has anyone had success with these to angels together?

3 tangs in a 75?? thats going to get very cramped VERY fast. IMO you are dangerously overstocked as it is and no way should you add anything else to that tank. But it is your tank and this is just my opinion, take it or leave it.

sounds like you are already on the edge or past as far as stocking goes.

I would not consider 90lbs of LR in a 75 gallon tank "more than ample" either. Closer to the bottom threshold, IMO.

The LR is the primary biological filtration - it does more than provide munching area (though that is important too).

Is this a reef tank or FOWLR?

In the end, I'd say your already overstocked. But maybe your filtration can keep up with what you got...

im agreeing on the close to or overstocked already. but to your question , i have both the coral and flame. like you , the coral was in my tank 1st , probably 3 months prior to adding the flame. from my understanding this is better than the flame in 1st. the 1st night of introducing my flame , well ugly is the best description. :) . so i turned the lights out early to stop the aggression. next day , all was fine between the 2 fish. i wouldnt call them buds now , but they do tolerate each other with no signs of fighting. good luck hopper, but i would be careful with the amount youve already got.

I would consider getting rid of one tang. This would put you back where you should be as far as stocking and you could add the flame angel. Who am I to talk though Im a notorious overstocker/overfilterer.

yea i always thought 3 tangs were too much but my boss was gonna give them away to the lfs! i saw their temperament together and decided to throw them in my tank. if worse comes to worse i will get rid of them or a couple anyway. there is a purple tang, hippo tang, and the other one is brown/grew with yellow stripes? idk what that one would be but from what I've heard these are pretty spendy fish and i got them for free! so you can't blame me for at least trying them out in my tank lol. i have more than enough filters running on my tank which should compensate for the fish i was just wondering. thanks guys

Can you be a little more specific about your filtration? What kind of skimmer are you using, and what size sump? One main concern with overstocking is the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. The more fish you have the more oxygen there using and if there isn't enough to go around your fish will suffocate. The gray / brown tang with yellow stripes sounds like a powder brown. The powder and the purple are a good size for a 4' tank, but a hippo gets larger. I would try to sell the hippo and not add anything else, but thats just me.
