I need some info on coral beauty's if anyone knows about them.

I do not know how old the fish is. My neighbor gave him to me last Sunday. The tangs in his tank were picking on him really bad. His fins are all chewed up, his purple is faded he just looks bad.

When I put him in the tank he swam to a rock and hid till totday. Today was the first time he swam around the tank. He is back in his corner now.

I guess my question is this. What is normal for these fish? Are they active? Do they like to hide a lot?

I would like to know what is something I can do to help his recovery too.

Oh and any tips on feeding this guy.

    Thanks in advance:help:

They do stay close to rockwork, like to graze or pick food from them.they eat both veggies and meat items, some nori in a clip would be good,as well as mysis.May take a while to acclimate,my potters angel which is similar would only graze for a week, after three weeks it was eating anything and everything offered.

typical for new tanks mates to pick on the new kid in town. give him time and hopefully it all turns out okay.

Angel's are really shy at first. It took my dwarf 3 weeks before it really started cruising.
As said before, it will eat both veggies and meat. But for optimal health you also need to be feeding it an angel specific diet that is fortified with sponges.

just from personal experience my coral don't hide much untill night but he is the biggest in the tank now. It does stick close to the rock and such but is a pretty frequent swimmer. As far as diet I would say meaty with some veggies. I do sometime see him grazing on some calupra. I will have to try the sponge thing but maybe I don't have to seeing I have a few sponges in my tank and my beauty leaves them alone. Hope yours gets out of his funk and the other fish accept him soon. Could we see a pic if you can get one. good luck

Thank you everyone. He is looking better each day. Actually it isn't my fish that were picking on him. The fish from the tank he was in were picking on him. REALLY bad. His fins are tore up, his color is dull, I don't think they even let him eat much. That is why I have him now. My neighbor felt so bad for him.. Well her right? LOL

She is moving a little more, my fish don't really care much about her, but I don't have many fish either. They all have their section of the tank and pretty much leave everyone else alone.

I'm going to go to the LFS today and get a specific food just for her.

I do have a question, do fish get their color back? I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight and show you what she looks like.

I look at that picture of the coral beauty and I feel so bad for mine. She is so dull in color compared to the picture. Poor little thing.

Yes, fish can get their color back once they are healthier and less stressed.

Sad news, i added a coral beauty and my tang backed into her for the first day, she hid alot but soon came out, they are shy fish but do come out and graze the rockwork, she is very busy in her own world compared to the other fish, good luck with her...
