Coral beauty ich?

Sorry about the bad pic, it's on my phone and he is very fast, but he has what looks like air bubble on him and I caught him kinda rolling in sand... I'm worried it may be ich, the dots are on his face to

 

Hard to say from the pic, but scratching is a sign of parasites.

 

I can't tell from the picture. Ich looks like little salt specs.
Ich in a reef tank is a pita. But I digress..

I quarantined him anyway just in case it is ich I couldn't dose my tank because of inverts

 

Get a cleaner shrimp, will eat the external parasites.

 

But would the shrimp be able to get to the fish or would the fish just know hey he eats this stuff and sit still so the shrimp can work

 

Yea most fish will let the shrimp clean them. My flame angel lets mine clean it.

 

I have 2 cleaner shrimp and neither of them do anything except eat the food I put in the tank- lazy bums.

From what I've read here on 3reef, it is a 50-50 chance that they will actually clean fish.

 

A cleaner shrimp is the equivalent of putting a band aid on a bullet wound. It will not fix anything. You need to qt the Fish for about 6 weeks w/copper(buy a test kit!). Do not put copper in the reef tank!!! I refuse to do hyposalinity. IME, hyposalinity is better at killing the fish than killing the ich. Either way the tank needs to be fallow for 6 weeks to eradicate the ich.

 

How do I know it's ich for sure? I see a few dots on him about the size of a small air bubble and actually look like an air bubble, he doesn't seem stressed
