cleaner shrimp don't help with ich, ich lives below the slime layer and in the gills where it can't get too.

And unless you QT ALL your fish, QTing just him won't help much, maybe even hurt, as he'll just be reintroduced to Ich back in the tank.

IMO, keep him eating a healthy diet with some selcon in it, and keep the stress level down.

Good luck, a good diet, and not overstocking, or putting incompatible fish in your tank is your best bet at keeping Ich at bay!

My yellow tang had a few spots of ich when I first introduced him to my system but he was eating well and it went away in a few weeks, no other fish caught it.

I think sometimes people stress their fish out moving tanks too much, but I definitely wouldn't risk infecting a bunch of other fish in the tank.

If there is ich on the fish, its already been introduced into the tank. So best thing you can do is make sure all params are perfect and maybe feed some better food to help boost immune system and just let it run its course. I feel most people do more damage by removing fish then just letting them be.

So I should just let him ride it out? He is in my main tank eating fine and happily swimming. Any suggestions to what I should feed him? He nibbles at algae and eats frozen shrimp and seaweed sheets for his normal diet

Ohh, I thought you said you already QT'd him!???

If he's eating, keep him in the tank, no sense in stressing him! Keep feeding him that, and try soaking the nori in selcon! He should shake it off soon! hopefully

post #3 said he had quarantined the fish, hence the advice given! Read the link and you'll see I'm not pro QT post haste at all! ::)
