I recently introduced a Green Bird Wrasse to a tank with a Humu trigger and a coral beauty. He fights with the Humu but they seem to hold their own and are fine. I never noticed any issues with the CB, but then I went on a short vacation and left an auto feeder for them. When I got back the CB was looking horrible. He has cloudy eyes and some small white spots (assuming Ich) and his fins are torn to Hell. Plus he's breathing weird and hiding. I'm guessing the wrasse got hungry (he's a pig) and started picking on him while I was gone.

I've since moved him to a QT for now, but not sure what to do next. Never had the cloudy eyes deal. Is he a goner?

what do you normally feed them? CB love sponges if you can get your hands on some it might help with its healing.

Bird Wrasses are extremely aggresive.Unfortunately your tank is really too small for it and you will probably see continued/elevated aggresion.

Also I believe Brooklynella is more of a clownfish/damsel deal isn't it? Can CBs get that?

Minimum tank size is 120 gallons. The CB has probably developed a bacterial infection from the stress of being harassed and Ich infestation. The CB's diet should consist of marine algae and frozen angelfish blends.

Ok so plan of attack (yay or nay?):

    • Move Green Bird Wrasse out period.
    • Treat CB in QT for Ich and change it's diet
    • If CB makes it move him back to main tank?

Is my main tank screwed if it's full blown Ich? None of the other fish are having issues at all at the moment.

+1 on size, i feed mine a mix of fish (depending on market prices) usually consisting of scalops, cod fillet, shrimp, calamari all blended with a couple garlic heads and some nori. i then freez it and feed my critters once a day. in addition to this is cut up some fresh nori every time i feed for my tang and CB as well as adding some live artemia. keeps my fish fat and healthy on top of this my anemones catch whats floating around the water column and partake in the feast.

dont know about the wrasse but im sure vinny knows what hes talking about.

yay on moving the bird out
nay on qting the cb (catching him etc will stress him more) if you change what you feed them he should recover its a relatively hardy fish.

I must warn you CB's are NOT easy to keep. Ich is usually brought on by stress(poor diet, aggresion). If possible I would remove the wrasse and keep the Angel where it is. If you have other fish in the tank it will do no good to move the Angel as this will just add stress to an already sick fish.
