Ok well I will move the wrasse.
The CB is already in the QT so I guess that point is moot now.

The CB has thrived for about a year now so I'm surprised to hear they're hard to keep, especially since it seems I was feeding him a crap diet.

[Understood stress to move] but figured it was better than having the wrasse annoy the crap out of him.

    regarding ich in the DT.

well this is my 2 cents and depends on alot of variables. (fish species, agression, diet, over crowding etc) but i believe and have seen this in my own tank that fish and ich can coexist without it ever appearing on your fish. its an opportunistic parasite that hits weakened or stressed fish.

if you can insure your fish the basic needs (and this starts with a good diet) you should not have a problem with ich what so ever. but again this strongly depends on what fish you have as well. some are more prone to ich or more delicate than others.

My definition of hard to keep is probably much different then the average reefer as I have had fish for very long periods of time.(maroon clown for over 20 years as an example) Thats great that you have kept it for a year but years would be even better.:) If it has survived that long it is probably getting its algae from your LR but I would definitely start feeding it some of the foods I described..

I've actually read this great thread multiple times and I still boned myself hard on some of these. I'm actually pretty disturbed I missed the mark on diet piece of this since it really seems the simplest to take care of.

Size of tank is definitely one I've toyed with and broken the rules I suppose on purpose. The bird wrasse was a risk I guess and it didn't work out.

what troubles me though is the clouded eyes part. as far as i know ich cant hit the eyes of fish (no place to create there cyst?)

Sorry I edited my last post a little. I believe the cloudy eyes are from a secondary bacterial infection caused by the stress of aggresion, poor diet, and Ich infestation.

I got home from work and the CB is still in the same situation. He's tail standing for the most part. I dosed Instant Ocean Lifeguard at the suggestion of a fellow fish fan and am letting him relax in the QT. He's not thin or deathly. The breathing seems slower than earlier. Still has the cloudy eyes, fins all torn up, but no Ich white spots or anything.
