Yep I would think that the other pigmy angels also require a special diet of marine algae and sponges.

I have read they require sponge in their diet. I use formula 1 and 2 and once or twice a month some flake with spirulina and sponge in it. I have A LOT of live rock though and my Beauty grazes all day. Even if you weren't feeding it sponge though it should't have died that quick. Post all your parameters i.e. Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, PH, Alkalinity, Calcium and Magnesium. How about a pic of the tank?
One more thing, my LFS that I go to the most has stickers on the tank (some write it on the tank with grease pencil) the date and even time they got the fish or coral in their tank. If I like something and it has only been there a few days I have them hold it for me. Most will hold for a week or two, they are my quarantine.

I wish my LFS was that good. My ammonia-0 nitrites-0 nitrates-around 20. The coral beauty was grazing all the time and eating some of the flakes here and there. I'm just gonna take this as a learning experience and move on. Gonna do a bit more research before I get another pygmy angel. But I actually did quite a bit of research before I get any of my fish and with the coral Beauty I didnt read anything about them eating sponges. I think something that is that big of a deal should be a standard when talking about a fishes diet. Kind of pisses me off actually that the 3 books I have on fish and the multiple web sites I went to didnt say anything about it. Threw me under the bus.

I have had my coral beauty for 11 months and it eats what everyone else eats. I have never fed it anything special. I do feed Formula II but not on any regular basis I just vary what I feed them but on no regular schedule.
