I agree. There really is no good way to chart every coral there is and be able to guarantee that it will work under someone's given lighting and given tank set-up. What I'm after is documented cases of success. If someone asks what can be kept under there lighting I will be able to give them a spread sheet showing them documented cases of what works for them to draw their own conclusions from.

oh, sorry dude. my tank is ~ 22Lx18Wx30H (i know, weird). after looking at my depths i lowered my lights 2 inches, i didn't realize how far away they were, luckily i have a ceiling hanging kit.

now i'm curious, i need to steal/borrow a PAR meter from someone...

Wow that is deep! Don't worry too much though your on the high side of watts/per linear foot of tank I've seen so far.

I think I need to buy one.I just thought of a basic test you could run to check how much light fall off you have. This is assuming you have a pretty good camera. Put a small white disk on a string and lower it into your tank. Meter on the white disk while its at the top and bottom. Compare the results of what your camera metered at. It may be too small a difference for a camera to tell much but maybe not.

    This is a good idea.

    Ive got a 20 long (30 x 12 x 12) lit by 4 x 24 watt T5: 2 bulbs actinic and 2 bulbs 10K (which are boring in my opinion, would prefer atleast 14K)

I keep chalices and a acan on the sandbed and I keep some zoas in the middle of the tank.

I also have one frag of monti cap about 3 inches from the surface that is growing very fast.

I also have a large frogspawn that I keep towards the top.

My favias are also kept somewhere between the sand bed and the middle, great growth from them as well.

Another thing to factor in is color temp of bulbs and how old the bulbs are...
