I am really shocked few of the LED companies have considered this. I guess they want to prove they can do it without a crutch. In the end, it's better for their business.

I don't know which is better, YET! but my tri-color Acro looks pure brown with a little green in the polyps, I have 250w 15,000k MH lights and they look nowhere as good as I seen on youtube, I am only using 2 actinics in the T5's, so how do I get better color out of my Mh lights and they are the lights that came with the fixture.

I dont recall which company it was, but I know someone was producing high end lighting units that used both t5 and LED. Soon Ill be tearing into my t5 unit and retrofitting LEDs to add to the spectrum. I cant wait to see the results.

Radium 20K if mogol, Phoenix 14K if DE. Those are my choice for my favorite bulbs for coloration. After that the rest is water quality.

Sfiligoi but the price on those units is absolutely insane. Not to mention, i think it may have had 6 rows of T5 which to me says the LED is just supplemntation.

Or you can pay $2400 for the 24" with 4 - T5 bulbs and a bit more LED.
And upgrade to RGB for an additional $300

That was a HORRIBLE experiment. The guys tank crashed mid experiment!!! And they never let fat jack properly cycle with dry sand. You need to completely ignore that fat jack experiment. Mrsaltwatertank really failed his viewers by not giving the AI's a proper chance and deducing his thoughts over a 6 week experiment where the tank owner had a major problem going on that lead to a tank crash.

LEDs don't color up quite as well, but come with great controllability and power savings and that makes up for it. The gap is getting smaller and smaller between the three too. Tank parameters are usually a bigger reason for a coral not coloring up than the lighting source, but all things exactly equal, Gcarrol nailed it.

I think it would be about 400$ if you bought the 120w LEDs and added a nice t5 fixture to the top of a canopy. It might be cheaper..

I think I'm regretting my decision on LEDs, it seems mh is the way to go.. Maybe I'll add a bulb to my setup someday and make a canopy.

MH comes with way more power consumption, way more heat and no controllability. The coloration is a little better, but many hobbyist tank parameters are much bigger issue. You will get great results our of your leds I feel sure.
