    Hey all,

Just looking for some help. I do not know what the type of coral this is since it was just trown in when I was buying coral off a guy shutting down his tank. It looks like the Ridges around the Eyes are turning white and look slimey. I checked my levels and they all seemed to be in check and I also did a Iodine Dip.

    Any help would be appreciative!

You have done the right thing with the dip. Move the coral down to the bottom until it heals. You may need to do the iodine dip a few more times. They are pretty hardy so it should come back once you stop the degeneration.

Agreed. Good call on the dip. It looks like a favia to me. Cool coral. Its possible that it could have gotten stung. Moving it couldnt hurt. Just be careful not to burn it by putting it too close to the light. IME most corals in this family (Favia, favites, maze brain corals, ect.) like indirect light. Very nice piece though. I have one that looks just like it and has taken off with growth in the last month since I started spot feeding it. I would highly recommend doing so.

Just an update. It took two iodine dips. But looks like all the parts that were dieing are starting to fill back in. I think my crystal coral may have stung it...

    Thanks for the help all!
