many different types stem. some you dont need to target , just good lights wil do it. others you do need to target feed. some need high flow, some need low. so gotta know as amcarrig said, what type youre looking at.

Its a good idea to research not only what they eat, but how compatible the corals you are interested in is with the live stock in your tank. Some corals sting. Some expand out the sizes you didn't think was possible. For example, I've always liked the way bubble corals looked, but they expand out and so do their tentacles. After researching them I realized that I didn't have the room for one. I also warn you, once you start seeing whats out there and the different types, colors, and designs of corals...your money might mysteriously start disappearing. But your tank will look great. :)

And be sure you match your corals to your lights.. !!!

Start cheap.... With corals you will really learn alot about water..
Read all you can, Make sure you have all the test kits you need..
    And like Sea Dragon said......

Once you start with corals... You are HOOKED ...
And they are beautiful.. And will open up a new world to you..

    Good Luck, Larry
