So I have a few corals, not sure exactly what they are. One is a brain like one that was fluorescent green, a orange sponge looking one, and a tooth coral of some kind..(sorry kinda a rookie on corals). My issue is that all of them have turned a deep dark red. What the hell is going on? My water is testing pretty good besides phosphates a little high, probably do to my tap water which I just switched to RO. So hopefully that will help. Any opinions on whats happening? Thanks!;D

Too little light, they're making xooxanthellae to compensate. IMO. IANO.

That's very likely. Corals will tend to brown out when there isn't enough light. What type of lighting do you have? Do you have actual water parameters?

Well the lighting was one of my concerns. I had PC's and recently went to LED's. Hopefully they come back? Curious to see what LED's do.. may have been a big ass waste of money. I don't have actual parameters, my LFS does the tests for me. I only have tests for nitrate, nitrite, PH, and ammonia.

Some LEDs are really good (up there with T5), and some are really worse than PCs. It depends on what kind.

They should have enough. The LED's shimmer pretty good.. I think that's good. Guess I'll have to see what happens.

Um, the fact that lighting shimmers has absolutely nothing to do with how much PAR the corals get.

Agreed, there are some really good LEDs and then some not so good.

I'm using the Maxspect led's. The corals themselves are red, I wish I could take some pics but my camera is out of commission:-[. The lights may not have enough PAR.. but people I've talked to that have them really like them and are keeping pretty much everything under them. I'm not too worried about it but just thought that it was strange. The softer corals look fine.. I dont know..I'm kinda a rookie so just trying to figure this aquarium thing out.
