I got this a few day's ago for 20.00 so I think it was a fair price and rather attractive but I have'nt a clue as to what it is. It has almost covered the rock. THe polyp's are coming out of some strange indentation's in the rock. now they are starting to get longer. They looked better when they first opened up and were short and colser to the rock. It is about 4 inches across and about 3 inches tall. The color is way off they are kind of pink in color. Either way what is it, and was it worth 20.00 bux?

That isn't an encrusting coral. The rock is it's skeleton and the dimples on the rock are where a polyp died. These guys need a lot of food. It probably wasn't fed and that's why there is some death on it. Goniopora.org:::Goniopora Reference Web Site

The polyp's are coming out of the dimples, when I got it there was a few small row's of head's around the skeleton and it is filling out. In a few day's it should be full and I will take another picture of it. Unless a polyp has died there and a new polyp came up in it's place. but it was in all honesty almost a bare skeleton when I got it. I really did'nt want any coral's I had to spot feed. I do dose my tank with live phyto a couple times a week, but so far everything in my tank lives on light, I just dose the tank to better simulate the ocean. So I might give it to my neighbor's.
