The first coral is one that I purchased the other day, and for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. I went over how to care for it with the LFS owner, and he gave me the latin name but not a common name.

It's origin is Australian. Under MH's the tips become almost a fluorescent green. Mine was from a tank with T5 bulbs only, and it wasn't been under my MH's long enough for the color to darken.

The second is a hard coral frag that he gave me for free to be a sort of 'canary in the coal mine' to see if my tank was mature enough to handle hard corals.

Sorry for the lack of clarity in the pics. I was cleaning algae off the glass before I snapped a pic with my iPhone, and I accidentally kicked up some sand.

Any help would be appreciated... Also, I'm new to reef keeping, so if they turn out to be something very obvious just keep in mind I don't know enough yet for anything to be obvious! ;-)

When mixing leather corals and SPS in the same tank, always run granular activated carbon.

Yeah, I have a Marineland sump, which comes with media trays. I have a filter bag full of carbon in it. I will make sure to keep up with changing the media.
