I'm not even sure if this is a coral or not. It looks like a dark purple or black zoa but it has much longer tenacles than I have seen on zoas. Does anyone have an idea of what this might be? It hitchhiked in on some live rock along with the pulsing xenia and the zoas to its left.

    Thanks!

+1 to some sort of Paly, but I have never seen that color either. kinda cool, but if they take off and grow, they are just going to be dark spot in the tank. I mean, if you are into goth and death metal maybe you can sell them as death paly's! :)

I had it in my tank and it never looked fernlike. I tried everything and nothing would eat it. I soon realised what it was and raised my Magnesium to kill it. It could possibly be GHA,but IME GHA grows more like a carpet not in clumps. If you take a close look at your picture you can make out some fernlike characteristics in there. Just keep an eye on it you don't want it spreading trust me.;)
